Darjeeling has a very deep connection with Bengalis. My first trip to the hill station was in 2018, at the age of 27 – quite a late bloomer for a Bengali. But the sleepy town in the midst of the Himalayas left me speechless.
There’s something about the eastern part of the Himalayas that appeals to me. Some poets describe it as a quiet and feminine counterpart of the Northern side comprising of popular places like Ladakh, Manali, Shimla, and the likes. Maybe it’s the English breakfast platter at Keventer’s or freezing to catch a glimpse of the sunrise at Tiger Hill. Whatever be the case, I’ll still crave for more!
